Excerpt from A CURIOUS LIGHT; book 4 The Chronicles of Windfallow.

An Alari interacts with an infant:

Angari stood and stretched, his wings touching the wall on either side.  “I must return to Windfallow now, but I thank you all for your hospitality.  I will return for Coby as soon as we know the spacemen are nearby and ready to land.  If you need me before that time, just call and I’ll be back.” With that he was gone, leaving a feeling of loss behind as always when he left.

The days passed quickly while Coby stayed with the Thomases.  He was privileged to attend David’s wedding to Rachel.  Angari was there as well, unseen by all but the Thomases.  Angari fascinated little Adam even at the tender age of three months.  His eyes would light up and never leave the Alari while he was in sight.  After the reception Angari returned to Cory’s house and held the baby until the child fell asleep in his lap.

Rachel put her hand in Cory’s as they watched Angari curl one wing around the child.  “I want to keep that picture in my mind forever, Darling.  Our child held in the arms of an angel.”

“All children are in the arms of angels, Rachel,” said Angari.  “How terrible it must be for the earth angels to watch their children abused.  She saw tears flow as he kissed Adam’s red-gold curls.  He rose with the baby and laid him gently in the bassinet.

“I must go, friends.  I will see you soon.”
