“I was walkin’ home last night.”

“Cause I wasn’t drivin’ home last night!”

“Well, Officer, sir, I was walkin’ home and,”

“You already said that!”

“Did I?  Well, while I was walkin’ home, I saw somethin’ strange out on the hill.”

“What did you see, Walter.”

“Well, I saw my dog, Scotch, and… Oh you won’t believe it anyhow!”

“Walter, you came to the Station to report something.  So report it or go home and sleep it off!”

“OK, OK!  There was my dog, Scotch, walkin’ on the hill, and right behind him I saw an elephant taggin’ along!  Holdin’ on to Scotch’s tail and followin’ him along.  I saw that, Officer!”

“And where were you walking home from and how many beers had you had?”

“I was walkin’ home from Archie’s and I was walkin’ because I’d had a few beers.  That’s why I was walkin’, don’t you see?”

“So.  You had a FEW  beers?  What do you call a few?”

“Well, I had my paycheck, so it was more’n a couple.”

“How much of your check do you have left?”

“Not enough to satisfy Mamie, Officer.”

“Now, Walter, you and I both know there are no elephants around here and we both know you couldn’t have seen one last night.  Where’s your dog?”

“He was so dadburned   scared he ran off.”

“Do you see this file report, Walter?  Do you see me tearing it up?  Now, go home and sleep it off!  And I don’t want to hear anymore about an elephant!”

“Hello?  Yeah, this is Officer Smith speaking.  You lost what?  When?  Where?  Hey, Walter! Come back in here?”
